Hi, I’m Alana Greear, a teacher and Independent candidate for House District 6.

I’m running to represent the Lower Kenai Peninsula; from Kasilof south through Ninilchick and Anchor Point to Homer and the Head of Kachemak Bay across to Seldovia and Halibut Cove.

For the past 10 years, I’ve worked in Kachemak Selo, Razdolna, and Voznesenka Schools. As a teacher, I’ve watched as my class sizes grow while the resources for my students shrink.

I filed to run after the State House failed to override Gov. Dunleavy's veto of the bipartisan BSA increase. As the KPBSD faces over a $16 million budget deficit, I was devastated to see the legislature kill necessary funding needed to stop major cuts to our schools.

Despite continued calls from local school board members, educators, students and parents to increase the BSA, Rep. Sarah Vance did not vote to override the veto.

As your representative, I’ll fight for strong schools, work to put our PFD in the Constitution and protect our fisheries from trawlers and federal bureaucracy.
